ecology while employing a hands-on, inquiry-based approach.
Classes are geared toward second and fourth grade,
but can translate up to sixth grade. To view our education newsletter, click here.

Second Grade
REAP Classes
Get on the case and follow the clues as a Crystal Bridge detective. Students will unravel the mysteries of the rainforest as they explore the Crystal Bridge. Interactive activities will teach students about the layers of the rainforest and who calls each layer home. REAP also focuses on the basic concept of photosynthesis and pollination. Class wraps up with an adventurous hike through the Crystal Bridge. Check with the Gardens for grant opportunities.
Fourth Grade REAP Classes
It's bug vision! Get up close with pollination and flower parts through the eyes of a bug. Hands-on activities will teach students how colors play a role in pollination. A video microscope will bring pollen into giant focus. The class wraps up with an eye-opening exploration of the Crystal Bridge. Check with the Gardens for grant opportunities.

Roaming in
the Rainforest Summer Classes
Daycares, church camps and home schoolers can register for
our popular Roaming in the Rainforest summer education program.
Children will be treated to a Rainforest ecology puppet theater
and make decisions impacting the Rainforest. Docents will
assist kids while teaching them how to make a butterfly ring
or create a butterfly habitat. Volunteers and group leaders
will then launch on an informative tour of the Crystal Bridge.
These classes are held every Tuesday and Wednesday mornings
in June and July.
